Ann-Sophie Desmarets obtained her master's degree in Nursing and Midwifery with great distinction at the University of Ghent in 2016. That same year, she also got selected for participation in the United Nations 54th Graduate Study Programme, which was held at the United Nations office at Geneva. The theme was ‘Humanitarian assistance and development’. She has a deep interest in the social context of health and health care. For her master thesis she investigated the effect of the strength of primary care on the association between income inequality and several health outcomes in Europe.
Ann-Sophie started working as a Phd student at the University of Ghent in 2017. Her research is situated in the field of Blood Economy and aims to develop a systematic and comprehensive understanding of the determinants of the organizational and institutional determinants of blood donation in a comparative and cross-temporal perspective.
