Status: Postdoctoral researcher
After a brief career in healthcare in Chile, Ricardo studied sociology at Université de Strasbourg (France) and completed his doctoral research at Ghent University with a dissertation in the field of sociology of the professions. He has also been trained in historiographical methods at Panthéon-Sorbonne University (Paris 1). He furthermore holds affiliation with the Association Française de Sociologie, the International Institute for Qualitative Methodology, the European Association for the History of Medicine and Health, and the European Association for the Teaching of Academic Writing. His interests include history of science, social theory, ethnographic research, social science methodologies and concept development.
In the HeDeRa group, Ricardo (financed by Foundation Flanders (FWO)) develops an emerging research interest in the sociology of health professions and mentors junior qualitative researchers at the 'Kwalitatief op Zolder study' seminar. He teaches at postgraduate programmes in both the Faculty of Political & Social Sciences and the Faculty of Medicine.
